I have always loved Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s, “I Have a Dream” speech.  The words just stir something within me, as I’m sure they do many of you.  I realize that the words of Dr. King are meant to call attention to injustice and my heart bleeds for those who have suffered, and continue to suffer, but to me his speech means just a little bit more.  It means that our dreams can include everyone around us…our families, our friends, our acquaintances, even people we don’t know….no one is immune if our dream is big enough.

What is your dream?  Dr. King wished for equality and achieved a status that is recognized by millions today, even 48 years after his death.  He died before I was born, yet his words have a profound effect on me.  What if our dreams…yours and mine….could achieve the same impact?  What if we allowed ourselves to dream so big that we leave our mark in the world long after we’re gone?

As entrepreneurs we certainly know how to dream.  We are visionaries and aren’t afraid to take chances.  We stumble, we fall, and then we get back up and keep pushing forward.  One step, one day at a time until our dreams and our visions become reality.  We don’t falter, we don’t give up…we keep dreaming…

“And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.”  MLK Jr
